How to use StoneForm

What StoneForm is

StoneForm makes forms by conversation. You say what you need to collect, in the words you would use to a colleague, and the form appears beside you as you talk. Make as many as you want — a request form for your website, a sign-off for the crew, an intake sheet your office fills in over the phone.

Two things make it worth the trip. Every form can go out publicly or stay internal. And you decide, per form, whether an answer creates a new lead in FieldStone or just gets recorded.

   Start a form

   Open StoneForm and create one. You are not picking a template — you are opening an empty form with a chat beside it.

   Describe what you need to know

   Say it plainly: ask for their address, the age of the roof, whether it is leaking now, and a photo. The form builds itself next to you as you go, so you can see what you are getting rather than imagining it.

   Tidy the last ten percent yourself

   Some changes are quicker done than said. Beside the preview you can rename a question, change its type, mark it required, edit the choices, and drag questions into a different order. Bigger moves — adding a step, moving a question between steps, changing where the answers go — stay a sentence in the chat.

   Decide what an answer does

   This is the setting worth stopping on. A form can create a contact and an appointment the way a website enquiry should — or it can just record the answers, which is what you want for a site checklist or a crew sign-off. Nothing is assumed; you say which per form.

   Put it in front of people

   Publishing gives you a link to send, and an embed you can drop into your website so the form appears in the page rather than on ours.

   Or fill it in yourself, against a job

   A form can also be opened from a job’s My Apps row and filled in by you or the crew. Answers are filed against that job, and any photos or documents land in StoneBox.

   Read the answers

   Every response is in a table you can sort and export to a spreadsheet. Alongside it is what happened before the answers: how many people opened the form, how many finished, and where the rest gave up — which is usually the question you should cut.
