What StoneReport is

StoneReport is a shelf of reports you can run against the data you already have in FieldStone. A job close-out for a customer. Revenue by job for your accountant. A subcontractor compliance summary for a general contractor who has asked for one.

You pick a report, pick a date range, and get a PDF with your branding on it. There is nothing to design and nothing to configure — the work is choosing the right report, which is why the catalog is the whole front page.

Step by step

  1. 1

    Open the catalog

Open StoneReport. Everything you can run is on one page, grouped into money, jobs and schedule, customers, and compliance.

    Find the one you need

Search it, or narrow by what the report is built from — invoices, jobs, contacts, form answers. Each row tells you its name, what it is for, and what data it uses, so you can tell two similar-sounding reports apart before you run either.

Some need something turned on first

A report that reads QuickBooks needs QuickBooks connected; one that reads your forms needs StoneForm on. Those stay on the list rather than hiding, with the thing they are waiting for named and a button to go and do it.

    Choose the dates

Most reports cover a period. Pick it, and the range is read as calendar days in your own time zone — so a week is the week you actually worked, not a window that drifts by an hour twice a year.

    Get the PDF

Running it produces the document there and then and downloads it. There is no queue to watch and no link to send — you have the file, and what you do with it is yours.

    Know what revenue is not

The revenue report shows what you invoiced and what came in. It is not profit, and it cannot be — FieldStone does not hold what your jobs cost you, so there is no margin to compute. The report says so on its own face rather than letting a number be read as something it is not.

This is revenue, not profit. FieldStone does not hold your job costs, so margin is not shown.

Everything you have run is kept

Under the catalog is your history. Each entry holds the figures as they were the day you ran it, so re-downloading last quarter's report gives you last quarter's report — not the same query re-run against data that has moved since.

    Run the same one again

Your last few reports sit at the top with a Run again button that reuses the same range and downloads a fresh copy. Monday morning becomes one click rather than remembering which dates you used.

Pick one, pick a range, download it — and the copy you sent last quarter is still exactly the copy you sent last quarter.
