What the assistant can do

What can you do?

I can check your day, draft and send an estimate, text a customer, or find a file. Want the whole list?

Two ways to ask

The assistant is built into FieldStone: open it from any page and ask in your own words. You can also connect Claude or ChatGPT and ask from there, without opening FieldStone at all.

The two do mostly the same things, and both work as you, in the business you have open. What differs is how a request that reaches a customer is approved, so each has its own list below. If you are not sure, ask it: “what can you do?” gets you this same list.

What it can do

The assistant inside FieldStone, on the web, your phone and the desktop app. Before it texts or emails a customer, sends an estimate, an invoice or an agreement, or deletes anything, it shows you what it is about to do and waits for you to confirm.

Your day and your business

  • Tell you what I can do, with an example for each, and point you to the full guide

    “what can you do?”

  • Daily overview — narrate today's schedule and observations

    “what's my day”

  • Adjust settings — business hours, booking, assistant downtime

“turn off online booking on Sundays”

  • Navigate the dashboard to a specific page, or open one of your apps that's turned on

    “open Job Tracking”

  • Draft a reply into a customer's SMS thread (never sends)

    “yes, reply to Sarah”

  • Show what needs chasing today and act on follow-ups (resolve, snooze, dismiss, or turn into a task)

    “what needs chasing today”

  • Turn the morning digest or the weekly website-traffic text on or off

    “turn off my morning digest”

  • Read or summarize a customer update you received

    “what was that update about”

  • Read the playbooks this business wrote — find the one covering a process and quote its steps, who owns each, and what setup is outstanding (read-only; a playbook is edited on its own page)

“how do we handle a callback complaint”

  • Answer from what the business already knows — Business Brain facts, patterns and procedures, and your stored reference docs

“what do we charge for a service call”

Customers, jobs, tasks and money

“invoice the Henderson job for the deposit”

  • Turn an accepted estimate into a job

“make the Whitmore estimate a job”

Apps, files and agreements

  • Tell you where your agreements stand (Stonegreement): drafts, out for signature, signed or declined

I can read what those produce, but I don't operate those from chat

“where do I edit an agreement's wording”

What it never does on its own

A text, an email, an estimate, an invoice, an agreement, a booking link and a delete are never sent or carried out without you. Inside FieldStone you confirm on a card in the conversation; for texts, emails and a few deletes you can tell it to stop asking, but an estimate, an invoice, an agreement or a change to a customer’s visit asks every time. From Claude or ChatGPT the request waits in FieldStone, under the assistant’s bell, and you get a notification; nothing happens until you approve it there, and it lapses after a day if you don’t.

Someone on your team whose role can only look things up gets an assistant that can only look things up, wherever they ask from.

Connect Claude or ChatGPT

It takes a few minutes and uses your normal FieldStone login. Follow How to connect Claude or How to connect ChatGPT. You can remove a connected app at any time in Settings, under Sign-in.

Ask in your own words. If it can do it, it will; if it needs your yes first, it asks.
